ARCHDIOCESAN BYZANTINE CHOIR OF THE
GREEK ORTHODOX ARCHDIOCESE OF AMERICA presents
«BLESSED ARE THE PEACEMAKERS»

With the blessing of His Eminence Archbishop Demetrios of America, 37 members of the Archdiocesan Byzantine Choir of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America traveled to Constantinople for the Thronal Feast of the Ecumenical Patriarchate on November 27 - December 2. Ten members of the choir were from Hellenic College Holy Cross Greek Orthodox School of Theology in Brookline, MA.

The concert was held in the historical and great church of Hagia Irini (Peace of God) in Constantinople which is located directly behind the Great Church of Hagia Sophia on November 30, 2013. Hagia Irini had served as the first Patriarchate of Byzantium and was build by Saint Constantine the Great at the beginning of the 4th century. During the episcopacy of Saint Gregory the Theologian the 2nd Ecumenical Council was held in it in 381AD.

This historical concert was organized in honor of Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew and was the final event of the celebration of the Thronal Feast of Saint Andrew the First-Called Apostle.
