"Little Bombay" prays for the poor souls of the earthquake victims in Nepal. Our hearts and prayers are with them.

Since the dreadful earthquake in Nepal, my colorful diverse neighbourhood in the so called "Little Bombay", the most exotic corner of Queens, NY and in particular in Jackson Heights has been flooded with news vans, people bringing candles and leaving them in the Diversity Plaza and a part of the facing wall has squeezed coloful notes of comments, thoughts, feelings and prayers among the doors, windows, and signs of local stores.  There are corners of the paved road and the sidewalk filled with huge boxes and plastic bags with supplies to be sent to the victims of the Earthquke.

Although it is called "Little Bombay", the area is full of stores and people passing by not only from India, but especially from Pakistan, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, Nepal, and other South Asian countries. So it was not an accident they all responded immediately to the tragedy.  We were used to see street signs with Indian hard-to-pronounce names and even harder to remmber names.  We were used to hear the high-pitched female Indian singers' voices and see posters of music and video stores with Bolywood stars.  We were used to smell the mesmerizing spices, such as curry and grilled meats coming from every corner of the streets.  We were used to witness protests and awareness campaigns for the salvation of Tibet and other topics in human rights activism.  We used to watch peaceful and well-educated Muslims protesting against fanatic Talibans and enjoyed the variety of different religions and philosophies represented by local temples and mosques and street vendors and solicitors around us accompanied by ancient symbols of Far Eastern cultures. Sikhs were wearing turbans in different colors soliciting store flyers, hindu women in sharis corwding the sidewalks with their children and their men wearing traditional atire and having a red spot on their foreheads.  Imams and musezins prayed openly, prostrated and celebrated Ramadan and other muslim holidays.  South Asian Christians celebrated their religious holidays not only Christmas, but also the Easter with Christian prayers and songs in Bengali, Hindi and Urdu, Easter eggs and bunnies.  Buddhist monks were also walking next to them all, and sometimes prayed, chanted, meditated and used candles and insencers to offer the passerby a mental trip to their spititual world. It was a trip to the Far East without paying a ticket for us the locals and only $2.25 MTA Metrocard fare for all the others!

After the mysterious explosion of a bomb in a local store over a year ago and after the great fire of the Plaza College building a few months ago, now we have this incident that shook the world. Now people of all cultural and racial backgrounds and especially South Asians pass by and stop, taking pictures and go and some others stay there longer.  I tried to take some pics too, but photography is not my forte, so I chose some pics from the huge pool of the Internet and here they are.  So let's all say our prayers for Nepal, because earthquake knows no time and location: it hits when and where you don't expect it...

Δείτε τα μαθήματα του τμήματος πολιτικής επιστήμης και ιστορίας της Παντείου και φρίξτε!!!  Έχουν αλβανική και τούρκικη ιστορία και δεν έχουν τίποτα για αρχαία Ελλάδα και Βυζάντιο!!!  Ο Ελληνισμός γιαυτούς ξεκινά από τον 19ο αιώνα με την ίδρυση του ελληνικού κράτους!  Μιλάμε για τμήμα που οδηγεί σε πτυχίο όχι μόνο πολιτικών επιστημών, αλλά και ιστορίας και όμως δεν έχει ούτε ένα φιλολογικό μάθημα!  Δεν ξέρουν αρχαία, δεν ξέρουν λατινικά, δεν ξέρουν νέα, δεν ξέρουν τίποτα!  Ακόμα κι αν δεν απασχοληθούν στον χώρο της εκπαίδευσης, τί είδους συνδοιασμός πολιτικής επιστήμης και ιστορίας είναι αυτός που δεν ξεκινά ούτε καν από τους νεότερους χρόνους, αλλά από την σύγχρονη εποχή;  Ξεχάσαμε τον Ζουράρι που είναι πολιτειολόγος, δηλ. πολιτικός επιστήμων εξειδικευμένος στην μελέτη των πολιτευμάτων και των πολιτειακών θεσμών και ο οποίος ξεκινά πάντα με Θουκυδίδη, με άλλους αρχαίους και με τους Βυζαντινούς, όχι μόνο λογίους και αυτοκράτορες ή στρατηγούς, αλλά και με τους πατέρες της Εκκλησίας; Και δεν είναι μόνο ο Ζουράρις...  Στην Αμερική και την Ευρώπη, πάντα στα μαθήματα πολιτικής θεωρίας έχουν περίοπτη θέση οι αρχαίοι Έλληνες πολιτικοί στοχαστές και φιλόσοφοι!  Και εμείς έχουμε προγράμματα σπουδών με μαθήματα περί...ελληνικής ταυτότητας και εθνογένεσης (!), αλβανικής ιστορίας, τουρκικής ιστορίας και τόνους μαθημάτων ολόκληρης εξειδίκευσης στο πως θα γίνουμε ευρωπαίοι και πως θα επιτύχουμε την ευρωπαϊκή μας...ολοκλήρωση!  Την ολοκλήρωση δηλαδή της επιβολής μνημονίων και της μαζοποίησης μας στο ευρωπαϊκό μπλέντερ της παγκοσμιοποίησης!

"Stephen Hawking says humans won't last for more than 1000 years..."  Oh really?  Do you need to be a physicist or a cosmologist to say that?  The way people are acting on this poor planet and its fast rate show that it will really be a miracle if humanity lasts for over 100 years!  Especially, since the world is ruled by greedy, attention-seeking materialists, reductionists and atheists like himself! Besides, Hawking has been too overrated, don't you think so?  There are way better and more accomplished scientists and yet there are not that famous or constantly under the spotlight.  It is rather unfair for low profile scientists with more accomplishments than him when this guy here has already refuted one of his theories that he was working on it for decades!  Most of his fame comes from provoking religious people and especially Christians by saying that God tosses the dice and that everything happens in this world by accident!  Then, it's definitely not an accident that this statement infuriated the Pope and for a good reason, though the Pope and papacy in general is another dark key player in this masonic game of globalization and overexploitation of humanity and the planet Earth.

It's really sad that instead of seeking empowerment through more meaningful ways such as philanthropy/charities, spirituality, and reaching out to the lay/non-scientific audience to promote a meaningful life, this guy chooses to reside in his ivory towers of academia and play God!  Complex of inferiority and anger for being stuck on the scooter forever lead to ego defense mechanisms.  Thus he displaces his anger and frustration for his situation to God (displacement).  Then, he tries to prove that God doesn't exist in a socially acceptable way through "scientific" work (sublimation), thus intellectualizing his anger and frustration (intellectualization) and  thus playing God believing that this way he empowers himself (omnipotence)!  It's really sad and dangerous at the same time for the wrong messages that he passes to people with disabilities and especially the young ones that they need to become rocket scientists and play God to really overcome stigma and everyday problems or that they don't need God or people, just science and technology or that high IQ, high grades and hard work are all you need to overcome your problems and become successful, rich and famous, even though you have sacrificed all other areas of your life!  However, neither his state-of-the-art holographic projection of himself in this recent presentation of his nor his high tech robotic scooter or super-wheelchair may bring him real happiness or improve the areas he really needs to work on. The worst weaknesses, challenges or burdens are not limited to ADL (Activities of Daily Life), such as how to open the door, navigate the campus, go to the bathroom, feed yourself independently, maintain a presentable house/doing the chores, speak or communicate. Those he has already overcome by having a lot of money and people to do things for him, though that still doesn't make him really independent, not to mention free time for recreation and socialization.  However, there are other issues he hasn't dealt with successfully and those are finding meaning, love, and spiritual development.  I really doubt he has found anyone of them.  He doesn't even recognize the need for or even the reality of spiritual development.  And yet the science he is supposed to serve is the one that speaks of quantum entanglement that we all relate to one another and to the universe and its source and cosmic energy that cannot be created or destroyed according to the second law of thermodynamics! I won't try to impress you with quotes from great philosophers or an ancient motto. Here is a humble quote from the lyrics of a song ("Invisible Man") by Stereo Nova, a Greek electronica band: "when you don't live your life you think of space".

Hawking chooses what to take from quantum physics just to prove his own wishful self-serving theory!  Science ala cart in other words!  Reductionism at its best!  That is breaking down physical phenomena into smaller parts, studying them in a fashion of overspecialization and career-driven feudal academicism that comes up with authorities, norms and standardization of everything studied. Thus, anything outside the protocol of standards, operational definitions and standards of each and every academic clique of the elite is refuted as unorthodox and thus it doesn't exist, including the spiritual world, the supernatural or God or even holistic body/mind practices.   By this token, "scientific" atheism has become the religion of these academicians, thus proving what Nietzsche said that atheism is a religion itself.  Hardcore academicians and especially of the science arena accept nothing outside the framework of their guilds!  In other words, it's like "it doesn't exist, because we say so!"  Any flash back images of Galileo and Jean of Ark (Jean D' Ark)?  That's the establishment and the intellectual dictatorship, mind prison, fanaticism and tyranny of academic fundamentalism! And Stephen Hawking is one of its most well-known representatives!  So isn't this another egomaniac guru of pseudoscience or what?

Help save the Carriage Horses of Central Park, a historical sightseeing that attracts millions of tourists and is a landmark of NYC.  Mayor Di Blassio however seems to ignore all that and aims to obliterate not only a piece and parcel of NYC history, but also an industry of tourism and entertainment. That will cause unemployment as many people will lose their jobs.  Besides, tourism and the economy of local Central Park area may be affected.  Di Blassio justifies his move by speaking of animal cruelty with no evidence whatsover.  It seems rather that animal cruelty may result in the future because of his policy if those carriage horses and their owners lose their jobs and go home!  In fact, those horses will have no home and their owners will starve because of Di Blassio's "humanism" and "Animal Love"...  People like Di Blassio may place other "values" and priorities on the top of their agenda instead of "humanism" and "animal rights".  Who knows...  Maybe, it's all about an under-the-table secret deal with developers or other interest groups for changing the face of the park only for the worse, but for his best financial interest after all...  Another conspiracy theory or an insight of what most of our policians usually are all about?  Time will show...  But before this happens, let's all unite our voices and our individual powers and advocate to stop this before it's too late!!!

Η πινακίδα της ντροπής! Ο Δήμος Βάρης-Βούλας-Βουλιαγμένης έχει τοποθετήσει σχεδόν σε όλες τις παιδικές χαρές των προαστείων του την πινακίδα αυτή εντελώς ανεύθυνα, ανερθρίαστα και απροκάλυπτα!
