Outi, a musical instrument from Middle East and Byzantium.

One of the most influential instruments of the Byzantine, Modern and Contemporary Greeks.  It is still used in many and Middle Eastern and Eastern Mediterranean countries, including Greece, Cyprus, and Turkey (formerly Asia Minor, populated by Greeks and others since prehistory).  It's often used in Greek music genres, such as Rebetika (urban underground music of the early 20th century, especially the 20s and 30s) and Mikrasiatika (Greek songs of Asia Minor) and Syrneiika (Greek songs of Smyrna or today's Izmir)
